The Rose Committee's decision
As almost everyone now knows, the Rose Parade Committee did not select us for the 2026 parade. The choice came down to a tie between our group and a Wisconsin High School. Since it was evenly split, the acting chairperson cast the tie-breaking vote for the band.
We spoke directly with one of the committee board members who had voted for us and recommended that we apply again for the 2027 event. It is noted that one of the people who voted for us in the split decision will be next year's chairperson. From a historical perspective, we have discovered that very few organizations are selected on their first try, and we've talked with a few who have tried for many years and are still waiting for their chance.
What's next?
We would like to hear from you to help guide this organization. We have set up a survey for any alumni connected to the Madison Scouts/Jr-Boy Scouts, Capitolaires/Petites, Capital Sound, 32nd Hussar, SouthWind (MDBCA years), and State Street Review winterguard to help us plan that path.
